Born and raised in Japan, Akiko Fukuda is a New York-based illustrator. After 13 years of holding fashion designer positions in the New York Fashion Industry, she started afresh with Illustration in 2017.  In 2017, Akiko switched from fashion design to illustration. She uses digital tools to turn her hand sketches into colorful digital artworks. She adds depth and dimension through her skilled brushwork and layering.

Akiko's artwork celebrates beauty and the enchanting essence of women. She helps women reconnect with the grace and innocence of their childhood. She also creates modern textile designs inspired by the beauty of botanical gardens. Akiko carefully selects high-quality natural fabrics like silk and cotton to print her unique designs in Canada and England.

In her studio, Akiko crafts these fabrics into luxurious scarves and small accessories. She puts her heart and passion into each piece. A special feature of her work is the hand-rolled hem on her scarves. This challenging technique requires skill, which she developed through extensive training. Each scarf is hand-sewn, giving every piece Akiko’s personal touch and craftsmanship.
